Today was a special day for our family - it was Mason's baptism day! He was surrounded by friends and family. He was so excited!
One really sweet part of the day was that Joseph, Mason's oldest brother, got to help with the baptism, as Mason can't stand up. He needed extra hands helping him in the font.
Happy Baptism Day Mason!
I so wanted to come. However in my prayers last night, I was reminded that, at a child's baptism, the congregation will consist of mostly children. I am not able to be around a lot of children because of no immune system. So I stayed home. I was there in spirit, watching the clock and going through the event with him. Give him a special hug from me, please.
ReplyDeleteWe understand! Hug delivered!
DeleteCongratulations, Mason! We had a special baptism with 2 of our boys who turned 8 really close to each other. We're happy for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a special day for you all! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHow nice. I still clearly and vividly remember the day of baptism for my two! They were four or five months old. Nearly three years ago a priest at the Church baptised them as I and my partner watched. How come you left it until now though? I was under the impression that baptism was something that happened when you were a infant. Either way, congratulations and welcome to the Church. He will love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurel! Nice to meet you.Thank you for taking a moment to comment! In our church we do not perform infant baptisms, as we believe children are alive in Christ, his atonement is in effect for children until they are old enough to be accountable for their actions. Children can choose to be baptized any time after they turn 8 years old. It is their choice, their covenant, their commitment with God.
DeleteThanks for the explanation. Happy Holy Day to you too. What sort of activities do you have for families and children?
